If you were to make infantry like the new vehicle skill tree, then it would be:
Light Dropsuit Command
Medium Dropsuit Command
Heavy Dropsuit Command
And they would unlock all the race's corresponding frame size basic suits, not role suits. Then each would branch out, so Medium Dropsuit Command would branch out to
Assault Dropsuit Command
Logistics Dropsuit Command
These skills would each unlock all the race's logistics suits, but only provide the class bonus (shield regen for assaults and armor regen for logis). Then it would branch out to
Amarr Assault Command
Amarr Logistics Command
Caldari Assault Command
Caldari Logistics Command
Gallente Assault Command
Gallente Logistics Command
Minmatar Assault Command
Minmatar Logistics Command
These skills wouldn't unlock anything, as you already unlocked the suits. All these skills would do is provide your corresponding race specific class bonus, like heat reduction for Amarr Assault Command or hacking bonus for Minmatar Logistics Command.
If they did this, they could make it
Light, Medium, and Heavy Dropsuit Command 2x skills
Assault, Logistics, Scout, Sentinel, Commando 3x skills
Racial class specific skills 5x skills
This way it would only take a little over 600,000 SP to get your first prototype suit (just the basic frame size no-class proto suit), which would greatly help new players become competitive faster. You'd also be able to get your first class specific protosuit at a little over 1.8 million, including the 600,000 SP already spent. And then if you want to go all out, it'd take you a bit over a combined 3 million skill points, which is essentially where it is now (a little higher since I'm saying get level 5 of the frame size instead of 3).
Essentially, all I'm doing here is splitting up the current 4x multiplier for frame size skill and 6x multiplier for role skill (a combined 10x) into a three skills at 2x, 3x, and 5x (again, a combined 10x) making it easier to get into protosuits as well as giving players access to all racial suits even if they are not out yet, as to silence requests for respecs.
